About Our Executive Team

Drozdeck, Steven R.

Steve is Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Progress Center. He began his career in 1974 as a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch. Between 1980 and 1990, he trained over 20,000 new and experienced advisors for Merrill Lynch, developed much of Merrill's training program, became Manager of Professional Development for the firm, and created the well-known Market Strategies course.

In the 1990s, Steve trained an additional 40,000 financial professionals, co-authored numerous books (Mega Producers: Secrets of Financial Services Superstars to Lead You to the Top; The Broker's Edge: How to Sell Securities in Any Market; Consultative Selling Techniques for Financial Professionals; Managing Your Business for Success: A Guide for Financial Professionals; The Effective Manager: How to Be the Best in Financial Sales Management; Empowering Innovative People; Professional Selling; and What They Don't Teach You in Sales 101) and courses (Market Strategies and The Money Managers Universe) on financial sales and management, and was a key figure in training programs at many firms. Steve has been a keynote speaker or workshop leader at numerous industry conferences.

As a regular contributor to industry magazines, including Senior Consultant and Journal of Personal Financial Planning, Steve's articles have also appeared in Financial Advisor, Bank Investment Representative, Society of Financial Planning Professionals, The Skilled Advisor, Horsesmouth, and Ticker. He has also been featured in 23 financial TV programs.

Gretz, Karl

Karl is Executive Director of Training at The Progress Center. He began his career in 1983 as an account executive with Merrill Lynch and then joined its corporate training department where he attained the the position of Senior Training Consultant. In 1988, he founded his own training firm which later became Drozdeck & Gretz Associates.

In addition to being a popular speaker at conferences and being featured in 17 financial services TV programs, Karl has authored numerous articles and co-authored The Broker's Edge, Managing Your Business For Success, Consultative Selling Techniques for Financial Professionals, The Effective Manager, Empowering Innovative People, and Professional Selling. Recently, he has created a complete sales team and sales culture for a major investment firm in Kuwait. Karl holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and has over 30 years experience in training.

Rosenstrach, Jerry

Jerry is the Executive Director of Marketing for The Progress Center. Prior to this, he helped found the Marketing Research Department of Merrill Lynch and was instrumental in establishing direct marketing and selling by seminar at Bache (now Prudential Securities). He has consulted for numerous financial services firms over the last 30 years, focusing on developing individually tailored programs for stockbrokers. He also spent six years at a small regional firm as Senior Vice President of Marketing and understands the mentality of the smaller firms' advisors. Jerry has designed and implemented marketing and sales programs that have generated in excess of $100 million in revenue. In addition, he has worked in senior management at several not-for-profit, health care organizations. He is author of numerous articles and the book, A Marketing Primer for Home Health Care Professional.

Woo, Mamie

As Technology Consultant to The Progress Center and Chief Operating Officer of Software Methods, Inc. (t/a Lang's), Mamie applies her knowledge of computers, web design and business success strategies to the financial services industry. Her 25+ years of experience in computer automation technologies and business management strategies in a broad range of industries will enable The Progress Center to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of its clients. Prior to starting Lang's, Mamie served as Regional Software Manager for Olivetti Corporation USA and Learning Lab Supervisor for the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Virginia Commonwealth University.
